As a fan of your work, I'd like to say that I do consider you a writer, though I do understand where you're coming from. Not everyone can turn a story, even with characters and plot points that may come from/be inspired by an outside source, and you can definitely do that. I don't want to overstep but I think rewriting Breathing could be an interesting thing to do, even if it's just for yourself. But in the end, I'm sure the original characters/plot you're looking for will come along one day. =)

First off, I just want to say thank you so much for saying you consider me a writer. It’s a difficult thing for me to think about myself, especially since I have never really considered myself a creative person in any part of my life. This whole writing thing is very new to me, so the idea of me being a “creative” person is a little frightening and unusual for me. I don’t even know how to begin going about creating my¬†own characters or storylines, much less creating a whole story around it.

I don’t know, it’s like this part of my brain keeps telling me that using a fanfiction I’ve written as a basis for an original story is a kind of…cheating? Like I’m in some way stealing something, even if I change the characters completely. Plus it gives me all kinds of 50 Shades of Grey vibes, which makes me want to yell “NO NO NO NO NO” like a certain cat loud enough to scare my neighbors.

AGH CREATIVITY IS HARD
