That’s why you graduated in Classics.
As someone who graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Classics, can I tell you how happy this makes me?
Classicists are terrible at math. I don’t know if it’s the way our brains function to process dead languages or the motivations that drive us to study useless and obscure things, but we are universally terrible at basic mathematics. One time, my Ancient Greek professor asked us, “So, if Socrates was born in x year and this dialogue is happening in y year, how old was Socrates at the time?”
He got fifteen blank stares, and couldn’t answer the question himself.
We suck at math.
Fellow kindred spirit here as well. I did fine at math; but never willfully! What’s wrong with an Arts/Literature major...
I got a degree from Willamette University, yet I truly suck at math. I say we’re kindred spirits here.
