12) What unpopular opinion do you have for the movies?
So I love the movies. Love them. They’re my favorite movies of all time, ones I can watch on repeat and never get tired of and in fact fall in love with more and more. But I hate, HATE, what they did with Arwen. I have no idea if that’s an unpopular opinion or not, but what they turned Arwen into in order to make a more “blockbuster” romance for Aragorn just…ugh it grates on me so much. Arwen was in three scenes in the books. THREE. She only spoke in one of those scenes, and yet somehow she became a major character in the movies taking away screen time from other characters that desperately needed it (Eowyn) (Faramir). If they had cut out even a part of Arwen’s ridiculous story arc in RotK, they would have had time for the Eowyn/Faramir arc. But noooooooooooooo, they have to put in like 15 minutes of Arwen looking sad and pretty and crying for NO REASON. NONE.
No, I’m not still bitter about this I don’t know what you’re talking about.
15) Whose wardrobe would you like to have?
A combination of Eowyn and Arwen. My favorite outfit in the movies is Eowyn’s white and gold gown, and on the whole I prefer the beautiful practicality of her wardrobe in combination with the delicately wonderful elements it contains. But I can’t deny how ethereally gorgeous Arwen’s gowns are, so I think I’d like Eowyn’s wardrobe with a few of Arwen’s dresses for special occasions.
28) Do you think you would volunteer to destroy the Ring?
Honestly? Probably not. At heart I’m both lazy and a little bit of a coward, so I’d let someone else take the big dangerous job of carrying the Ring instead of me.
Here is a very quick doodle of Sally. I love Vinette Robinson, hell, I have a major crush on her (mostly because I’ve seen her on stage a few times and ZOMG she’s amazingly talented, but I’ve also met her and ZOMG she’s adorable and gorgeous) so it was about time I painted her :D
I need some time off the computer for a few days because health wise, I’m a bit not good at the moment, but I still want to paint, so I think I’ll be doing smaller pieces until I feel better :) Bear with me…
shit i’m not going to do because sherlock has been pushed back another year:
- blame the writers
- blame the cast
- blame the crew
- harass anyone associated with the show
- go crazy and harass people more
- use the bullshit “i’m in a fandom so i can act crazy” excuse
- threaten people
- create an unwanted reputation for fans
shit i’m going to do:
- be fucking mature and fucking wait until the show motherfucking comes back like a young fucking adult
I rarely, if ever, post about fandom stuff like this because it is so not worth getting caught up in the bullshit and the fighting and everything else that comes along with it.
But I’ve noticed over the course of this year that things seemed to have…changed when it comes to the “fandom” as it is and the way we act as a group. I’ve said before that I no longer believe the Sherlock fandom can really be termed any such thing thanks to how large and disparate it’s gotten, but I feel that there has been a very real and noticeable shift in the tone of the fandom in regards to waiting for new episodes. Last hiatus, back when we weren’t even sure that there was going to be a new series because there was no definite news about filming, waiting was almost like a badge of honor. It sucked, but it made us strong. It gave us time to write, to draw, to come up with theories and headcanons, and to become a community. It was part of what defined us as a fandom, no matter how shitty it was.
Now, every time anything happens, someone brings up how much we “need” season 3. Even when it’s not anything that you wouldn’t see in ANY other fandom, like a slightly cracky gif (many of which have existed for years now) or a strange fic, the fact that we have to wait is brought up like some sort of disease that we have. Waiting isn’t something to be borne through with patience, it’s something that gives us permission to be rabid, crazed, and even disgustingly immature. I know this makes me sound like one of those horrible people who says “Well back in my day we knew how to do things right” and I hate myself for it, but I still can’t deny that things are very different this hiatus as opposed to last. Things weren’t perfect a year and a half ago, not even close. Fandoms always have problems and always will, but the mere fact that people now automatically resort to blaming the writers/actors/each other/everyone else when they get unconfirmed news that they may have to wait a few more months does nothing but make me sad. Bear your waiting like grownups, people. We’ve done it before, we can do it again.
I have to wonder if you realize that by responding like that, you neatly highlighted the exact point I was trying to make.
If you do, thanks. If not, thanks anyway you fucking ass.
